Have you ever found yourself in a comfort zone where you say, “This is the way I’ve always been. This is the way I’ll always be.”?
When I think about that through my front-row analogy, it is like sitting in a general admission seat. It’s not bad like the balcony, but it’s also not the best seat in the house. General admission is your comfort zone. It is where things feel familiar and predictable. It’s where you know what to expect. But here’s the challenge. If you are not careful, your comfort zone can slowly turn into a balcony seat.
That is why on this Front-Row Friday, I want you to take a look at the different seats in your life. Maybe it is a position at work that you’ve stayed in far too long. Maybe it is a relationship that once served you but no longer does. Or maybe it is a health habit that is keeping you from feeling your best.
Take an honest look at the different chairs of your life and ask yourself this question. Am I settling for a general admission seat?
And if the answer is yes, I want to offer you a simple but powerful idea.
Take a moment to define what your ideal front-row seat would look like. What would a front-row relationship look like for you? What would a front-row job or position look like? What would optimal health look like if you were truly sitting in your front-row?
Once you get clear on that vision, the next step is to take action. It does not have to be a giant leap. It can be one small step that moves you closer to that front-row seat.
And I will be honest with you. Taking action almost always means stepping outside of your comfort zone. It means doing something new, something uncertain, something that stretches you. But I promise you, it is worth it.
Because the view from the front-row is so much better than general admission, and certainly much better than the balcony.
So take a step today. Move forward. Choose your seat with intention.
Happy Front-Row Friday!

Your Head Usher,
Marilyn
