Let me ask you something: when was the last time you truly recharged? I’m not talking about grabbing a quick coffee or checking out for a weekend just to return more exhausted on Monday. I’m talking about plugging into the things, people, and places that restore your energy—emotionally, physically, and mentally.
Burnout doesn’t show up all at once. It creeps in little by little—when you keep saying yes when your body says no, when you ignore the signs of fatigue because you’re “too busy,” when you keep pushing without pausing.
Here’s the truth: even the most motivated, purpose-driven, front-row living rockstars need a reset.
Why Recharging Matters
When your phone battery hits 5%, what do you do? You find a charger—fast. But when your energy hits 5%, what do you do? Most people push through. Keep going. Power on. But burnout is the price we pay for ignoring the warning signs. And when you’re burned out, you can’t serve, lead, inspire, or connect from the front-row. You end up stuck in the balcony—disconnected and disengaged.
Signs You Might Need to Recharge:
- You feel emotionally drained—even after sleeping.
- Small tasks feel overwhelming.
- You’re more irritable or impatient than usual.
- Joy? What joy?
- You keep thinking, “If I can just get through this week…”
Sound familiar?
Here’s Your Front-Row Invitation to Recharge: Recharging isn’t selfish. It’s strategic. Think of it as an investment in your longevity, creativity, and ability to truly show up. This week’s message is inspired by the vacation I just came back from! I feel truly refreshed and recharged. I think it’s because of a combination of things: a good friend, good conversation, lots of laughter, good food and nature. My friend has a boat, and we enjoyed Tampa Bay, the sunsets, the dolphins frolicking in the water, it was great! But, you don’t need to go on vacation to recharge.
Try one or more of the following:
- Nature reset: Go for a walk without your phone. Let the silence do the talking.
- Laugh: Watch something hilarious. Laughter is so good for you!
- Unplug: A tech timeout for even 30 minutes can give your brain a break.
- Say no: Give yourself permission to decline things that drain you.
- Sleep: Prioritize real rest, so you wake up energized.
- Connection: Spend time with people who energize you, not deplete you.
Your Challenge This Week:
Pick one thing that helps you recharge—then actually do it. Don’t wait until you’re running on empty. The best version of you—the Front-Row You—shows up after rest, not after burnout.
Because you can’t pour from an empty cup, but a recharged you? You can light up the whole room.
So, take the pause. Unplug. Breathe. Refuel. Your future self will thank you for it.

Your Head Usher,
Marilyn
