If you have a big dream or bucket list goal and I hope you do, it’s not about if you will face self-doubt, it’s about when. Give yourself some grace knowing that the most accomplished people have faced it too. Here are three things to help you achieve your big dreams despite the odds that may be against you.
- Determine specifically what you want.If you are going to get support, encouragement, help and direction, first make sure you can articulate exactly what your dream looks like. Be very specific. Don’t worry about it being too big, just be specific.
2. Tell the right people. You know they are ‘right’ if they are supportive, encouraging, and never ever tell you that you can’t do it.
3. Take action.Self-doubt can have a strong voice that may influence you to not go for it. Don’t let that voice prevent you from even trying. Take some sort of action. Apply for that job or promotion or special project. Try out for that team. Start writing that book. Apply for graduate school. Whatever your goal is, take that first step.
Today’s message is inspired by the first female Thunderbird pilot for the US Airforce. Retired Colonel Nicole Malachowski. Watch today’s Front-Row Friday Video as I explain how she almost let the voice of Self-Doubt prevent her from becoming the very first female fighter pilot to become one of the Thunderbird pilots for the air force.
She put the above three strategies to help her cross off one of her bucket-list dreams and it was a big one. What an inspiration!
Here’s to living your dreams and getting into the front-row of your life.
