Have you ever been in a meeting and wanted to speak up but then your self-doubt and fear kicked in, and you didn’t speak up? In that case, you are giving away your power. Have you ever seen someone else who doesn’t speak all the time, but when they do, people listen? That is power. The difference is, mindset. Have a mindset that you are of value, you have something to add, you do make good contributions, but be strategic about it. If you speak up ALL the time, and not add something new every time, your voice becomes white noise. Choose your battles, choose the timing, be strategic so that when you do speak up, you speak with confidence, courage, and credibility. You don’t have to speak up all the time, but when you do, know that you are worthy of your voice being heard.
This was one of the conversations I had at a recent Women’s Foodservice Forum conference and I was reminded how powerful your mindset is. If you are filled with doubt, you won’t speak up. If you are confident, you choose when and how you speak up so that you are heard.
Have an amazing day and if this is your first time reading, welcome to the Front-Row!
