It’s not every day that a player from one of your favorite NFL Football teams is in your audience, listening to a story you tell about THEM! But, today was an exceptional day in Colorado, home of the Denver Broncos! My dear friend, Sherri Hagar brought me in to speak for VISTAR and I asked if I could bring a guest. Mark Jackson played 9 years in the NFL and his story about quitting the team during training camp, then un-quitting (is that a word?) without the team ever knowing he quit is inspiring! I often tell that story in my keynotes, but today, he was in the audience when I told it. How fun was it for the audience to then have him stand up and take a bow? It was amazing. The message for you on this Front-Row Friday is, don’t let doubt make the decision for you. Mark temporarily allowed doubt to convince him he wasn’t going to make the team. Then, after an angel in the parking lot (literally – the fan who told him he couldn’t quit was Mr. Angel) convinced him to not quit. Mark decided he was going to re-join the team and let the coaches decide to cut him or not. And, of course, he wasn’t cut and later that year he became famous for being a part of the 98-yard drive to win the conference championship to go to the Super Bowl. It’s one of the most iconic drives in the history of the NFL, (when you hear someone reference ‘The Drive’, this is what they’re talking about). Go for your dreams, don’t let doubt decide for you!
Enjoy today’s video where Mark tells the story in his own words. Thank you Mark!
