Ever notice how the world seems a bit brighter after a storm? There’s something about those moments following the rain, wind, or even a snowstorm that brings everything into sharper focus. It’s like nature’s way of hitting the reset button, showing us beauty we might’ve missed under all those dark clouds.
The other day I was driving after a horrendous dark, cloud-filled storm and I noticed for the first time, the mountains surrounding Las Vegas. There was incredible depth to the mountains because of the storm dropping snow lower than normal. It was stunning! I had never seen the mountains so colorful with so many layers. Then, it reminded me of the storms of life that you and I go through. There are things we can learn from nature when it comes to weathering the storm as a reminder to see the beauty around us.
It’s difficult to see the light.
When you are going through a time of uncertainty, or sadness or loss, it’s very difficult to see the light. Acknowledge what you are going through and don’t let anyone tell you to not feel a certain way.
Storms don’t last forever.
We never know how long the storm will last, but we know one thing, it won’t last forever. Whatever you are going through, try to remember that this too shall pass. It may bring you some comfort knowing that you just may come out stronger and more resilient after having gone through the difficulty.
Finding the Silver Lining
After a storm, you see the best rainbows and sunsets and breathe the freshest air. This is a time to look around and see and appreciate the depth of beauty around you that you may not have seen before.
Life’s going to throw some storms your way. That’s a given. But instead of dreading them, try to see them as nature’s way of nudging us towards growth, clarity, and a deeper appreciation for the beauty around us. So next time you’re caught in a storm, remember there just may be something beautiful on the other side.
Here’s to you weathering the storms of life,
