One way to stay front-row positive in a balcony negative world is to seek out and find positive human nature stories. One of my favorites is of the sacrifice of Father Maximilian Kolbe, trading his life for another in a concentration camp. When the guards decided to choose 10 random men to die in retaliation for an escaped prisoner, Franciszek Gajowniczek was one prisoner who was chosen. He begged them not to choose him because he was married with small children. Upon hearing this, fellow prisoner Father Kolbe volunteered to take his place because he was not married and had no children. They did as he asked, and Father Kolbe and 9 other men were put in a starvation bunker to die.
Years later, Maximilian Kolbe was canonized in Rome and the prisoner that he replaced showed up in his prison uniform with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He wanted to honor the man who saved his life by showing that he went on to lead a healthy successful life.
The best way to honor those who helped you along the way is to lead an extraordinary life. Find the light in the darkness of the world. There are countless stories like this, find them and focus on the goodness of mankind.
What good news can you share with me today?
