In the world of personal development it’s common to hear the phrase; “It’s not what happens to you but how you handle it that determines your success.” What does that look like? Today’s Front-Row Friday message is to inspire you to look at any traumatic event and instead of becoming bitter, turn it into a blessing. For example, there was a man that was born with a birthmark in the corner of his eye. The doctor’s were worried that eventually it would affect his eyesight. So they started the long process of laser removal every 2-3 months for five years. Then, during one of the treatments, they forgot to administer the anesthetic cream and he felt the most excruciating pain! It was after that incident that he became a stutterer. He had difficulty getting words out which made participating in school difficult. Fast forward years later when the rapper Eminem came out with an album. This young man played ’Slim Shady’ over and over again. He learned the lyrics front and back and that cured his stuttering!
Then, what is typically called a full circle moment, in 2022 when Eminem was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, this man, a former stutterer, was invited to come on stage and sing with him. The man that used to stutter after a laser remove gone horribly wrong? None other than Ed Sheeran. Yes, multi-grammy award winning singer song-writer Ed Sheeran.
When bad things happen to you, you have two choices. You can go the route of self-pity or you can find away to turn your situation into a blessing!
Have an amazing Front-Row Friday and I’ll see you in the Front-Row!
