I learned a new French word today. “Indefectible” means “not liable to fail, end, or decay.” I learned this word because my French tutor was helping me to describe the bond of never wavering friendship of the friends of my husband. After two years of cancer treatments including chemo, radiation and 3 operations, Yves was cleared of cancer and cleared to travel. Last night he was able to express his gratitude for all the prayers and visits of his French friends and family. During this difficult time, he was reminded that when everything has been taken away, what’s left is friendship and love. It was very moving to hear him express his gratitude to them because he felt their light, even in the darkest of times.
Today, stop and think about your friends and how their support lifts you during your trials. Also, be the kind of friend so that your bond will be indéfectible.
