In this day of quiet quitting and disengaged employees, It’s time to talk motivation. How do you motivate your workforce? As a business keynote speaker I get that question a lot. My answer is always the same: ask them. Then, ask them what that looks like. Don’t give people a reason to quietly quit, ask them what motivates them, and then ask them for examples as to what that looks like. You could be de-motivating people simply because of the way you interpreted their idea of motivation. In today’s Front-Row Friday video, I talk about the risk of de-motivating your employees because you interpret things like: autonomy, or collaboration, or and especially recognition. There are so many versions of each, you run the risk of actually de-motivating people if you don’t know what they mean when you ask, what motivates you? And, if it’s you that needs some motivation, ask yourself what motivates you and then get more of that.
Happy Front-Row Friday and I’ll see you next time.
