I have a confession to make. I love, love, love books. I collect books…motivational, inspirational, and empowering books. However, being one box shy of being a hoarder, I had my office assistant take some boxes of books to the Goodwill. When I came home from a speaking engagement, I was impressed that my garage was so organized! Thank you, Kate the Great. Then, I freaked out that there was a book that I had for a gift, and I was afraid that it was donated by accident. Ten minutes before closing, I went to the Goodwill in a panic to see if I could re-claim that book. It wasn’t there. But what was there on the shelves were lots of my books, and I got sad. I was sad that they weren’t in my possession anymore, but more than that (and here’s where the confession comes in), I was sad because I had these books for years and some of them, I never read. I vow to do better. I vow to watch less TV and read more books. As we are about to celebrate Father’s Day this weekend, I’m reminded of my dad’s home. It was FILLED with books, mostly biographies and auto-biographies. So, here’s to reading more books and not just collecting them. So far, I finished one book this week. My mentor had sent me “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho, which is an amazing fable about finding your purpose. I loved it! I can’t wait to pull another book off my shelf and discover the inspiration.
