We’ve all heard the phrase “practice what you preach” or “walk the talk”. Recently, I was reminded that it’s easier said than done (there’s another phrase that we’ve all heard!). On a recent Front-Row Friday video, I talked about the importance of asking mentors for help and being open to feedback. This week I had to look in the mirror and be reminded of that for sure. You see, for months I have been collecting footage for my new speaker demo video or “sizzle reel” for meeting planners to be able to see what I do in order to book me. This is an essential tool for any speaker to get the word out about what they do, with samples showcasing how they do it. It is an arduous task for sure – imagine watching footage of yourself over and over again. I was working with a video editor and then sent it out for feedback. But, on the final round of changes, I wanted to send it to my mentors in the business. I was hesitant because, if I’m honest, I was afraid of their feedback. Oh, didn’t I just do a video on being open for feedback? Yes. So I got over my fear, and if you watch today’s Front-Row Friday video, you can see what happened.
And, I don’t want to leave you hanging! After implementing the feedback from my mentors, I am proud to say I am done with my brand new demo video. Please check it out! https://vimeo.com/670373830
Always learning ways to practice what I preach,
