Communicating for Results; From Conflict to Cooperation
Overview: This is a content filled program that provides tools to anyone who doesn’t like conflict or confrontation. Attendees will learn how to reduce unnecessary conflict in the workplace by following some proven communication techniques. With examples and practice, people will learn the value of being assertive and not aggressive or passive-aggressive.
Program Focus: There are three areas of focus that will help audiences to be able to communicate more effectively, especially with difficult people.
1. Styles of communication
There are typically four styles in which people communicate to others, whether in business conversations or personal dialogue. Marilyn illustrates the differences between the first three styles that are ineffective, and the 4th that is most effective. She will describe how each style either detracts from, or contributes to, achieving results when communicating. With humor and clarity, people will quickly see what not to do in order to communicate for results.
2. Five Steps to being more assertive
Once people recognize the value in communicating more assertively, Marilyn will teach people five simple steps for communicating for results. This section focuses on having respect for self and respect for others in order to resolve conflicts and avoid heated confrontations. Marilyn will also provide a 4-step approach to confronting other people without it becoming a heated argument or hostile debate.
3. The one tool to keep people out of unnecessary conflict
Finally, people will be able to know the secret to avoiding unnecessary conflict. Using this tool will increase the confidence level of people so they don’t have to be afraid of conflict or confrontation. In fact, people will be able to practice a potential conflict situation to see if this, or any of the tools, will work for them. This high-energy finale is a crowd pleaser with people leaving with tools and confidence to use them and achieve immediate results.
